Applied Biopharmaceutics & Pharmacokinetics, Seventh Edition, by Leon Shargel and Andrew B. C. Yu, explains how drug-product properties and pharmacokinetic processes shape medicine exposure in the body. The text connects foundational models with practical questions about absorption, distribution, metabolism, elimination, bioavailability, and dosage regimens. Its examples and problems are intended to help pharmacy and pharmaceutical-science students apply quantitative concepts to drug products and therapy.
What does this biopharmaceutics textbook cover?
The book introduces how drugs move through the body and how raw data can be used to estimate the models and parameters that describe those processes. It discusses drug-product equivalency, bioavailability, bioequivalence, pharmacodynamics, and factors that influence product performance. These topics help readers connect formulation and absorption to measured drug concentrations and subsequent pharmacokinetic interpretation.
How does the seventh edition connect calculations with dosage design?
Chapters combine explanation with practice problems and clinical examples. Readers work with pharmacokinetic parameters to understand and evaluate dosing regimens, then consider how those decisions change across multiple-dosage schedules and patient populations. The contents also address renal and hepatic impairment, pediatric, geriatric, and obese populations, and other special considerations that affect dose adjustment.
Who may use Applied Biopharmaceutics & Pharmacokinetics?
This edition is relevant to pharmacy, pharmaceutical-science, and related health programs that teach drug absorption and disposition quantitatively. It can serve as a course text or reference for reviewing calculations and the assumptions behind common models. Because drug evidence and prescribing information change, use current product labeling and professional guidance for clinical decisions; an older textbook should not be treated as a current dosing source.

The definitive official guide to APA Style. It’s a genuine pleasure to use this guide because the descriptions are written so clearly, and are presented in such a clear layout. There are just enough examples to illustrate many of the rules, and the colour highlighting and annotation enhance the explanations. It’s so interesting just browsing the text and learning random principles. Because the whole point of APA Style is to enhance understanding and visual clarity, there’s nothing to argue about – they really have got everything right! The inside front and back covers show perhaps the most frequently consulted rules for headings, citations & references to eliminate having to search inside – very considerate. My only complaint is that the index is not as complete as it could have been, even though it’s over 20 pages long.

I bought the APA 7th Edition manual for my college research papers, and it’s been a lifesaver. Compared to the older edition, this one feels much clearer and way easier to navigate. The full-color layout and the examples throughout really help when I’m stuck on how to format citations or references. I especially appreciate the new sections tailored for students like me—it’s not just for professional writers anymore. Plus, the tips on inclusive language made me think more carefully about how I write. It’s definitely a dense read if you try to go cover-to-cover, but as a reference ebook, it’s super practical. The only downside is that it’s a bit pricey, but for the quality and how often I use it, it’s totally worth it. If you’re in school or need to write APA-style papers regularly, I’d recommend grabbing this manual. It makes the whole process less stressful.
