What you’ll find inside
Basic & Clinical Pharmacology, Fourteenth Edition, edited by Bertram G. Katzung, is a broad pharmacology text for students in medicine, pharmacy, nursing, dentistry and other health-science programs. The edition organizes drug science around major principles and therapeutic groupings, linking how medicines act with how they are selected and monitored in clinical contexts. Its chapter sequence and reference features make it suitable both for planned coursework and for returning to a specific class of drugs during study.
Core principles and drug groups
The opening material introduces drug development and regulation, receptors and pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, drug biotransformation and pharmacogenomics. Later sections move through autonomic drugs, cardiovascular and renal agents, drugs affecting smooth muscle, central nervous system pharmacology, endocrine and metabolic topics, inflammation, chemotherapeutic agents, and additional clinical-use areas. Chapters include topics such as rational prescribing and important drug interactions. The contents also show the breadth of contributors who address particular areas of pharmacology.
Study features and intended readers
The publisher describes the fourteenth edition as a full-color textbook with illustrations, summary tables, diagrams and case studies in many chapters. These tools can help a reader connect a drug’s mechanisms and uses with a clinical problem and review key distinctions after studying the detailed material. The text is designed for health-science learners and can also serve as a reference for clinicians reviewing foundational pharmacology. It does not replace current prescribing information, institutional guidance or clinical judgment.

Grabbed this for a psychopharmacology class and price was much cheaper than original price (which I love – try to save coins where I can)!

This ebook needs a alpha list of all the abbreviations used, so that if you don’t start at the beginning where abbreviation are defined you can know what they are talking about.

Concise to the point and easy to read

Easy to digest information in almost a lecture-like tone, but so very boring to slog through.
